Subject: [Leica] Microscope magnification for lens testing?

Sometimes I am tempted to test lenses and I would like to know what
microscope magnification range is appropriate for this purpose. I have
tried scanning negatives of a lens test chart but the LS2000 scanner I use
runs out of resolution and cannot discriminate anything greater than around
48 lpm. So a microsope seems like a good idea. I am thinking that maybe a
cheap one would do the job. Any suggestions for magnification range
appreciated.
