I've only had my leica for about 10 months now,an m4-p and a third
version 28mm elmarit and recently procured a dr summicron(it's true you
think you'll be happy with one lens then the sickness takes control).
now i'm a photo student so i don't have a lot of money but i gladly make
other sacrifices to afford the greatest camera i have ever owned. but a
few months ago i went down to the local tide pools for some change of
subject. i had a kobalux auxillary finder on top of my camera at the
time. well when it came time to reload i turned the camera upside down
and let it rest against my chest(hanging from the neck strap). I failed
to notice i was standing over a six foot deep, water filled crevice. a
stranger passed buy a commented nice camera. then i heard a "splish" and
saw my new finder only a week old was sitting six feet under water next
to assorted sea aneanome. the stranger looked at me grimaced and left
quickly. i just felt like an idiot. good thing i didn't fork out the
dough for a leica finder. the waves were already coming in and soon
rescue attempts would be impossible so i did what i had to do, i paid my
friend $5.00 to dive down a get it. when i got it home i soaked it in
fresh water then dismanteled it rather crudely and cleaned all of the
inside elements and put it back together. it doesn't work as well as it
did before it went for a swim but it still works none the less.
