Subject: [Leica] Fees magazines pay

I talked to an executive at an independent film/paper repacker some time
ago and the conversation went something like this:

HE: Our film got a top rating in the latest test in XYZ magazine (German)

me: I do not give much for the opinions of that tester, his previous test
had a whole page of development times for zyx film at different e.i.'s in
eight or ten of different developers, but almost all of the times were just
copied from the film manufacturers fact sheet and most people finds these
times way too short, so I guess he had just copied data given to him by the
manufacturer.

HE: Well, what do you expect, the magazines pay him DM 200 (that a little
more than $ 100) for each page, so he can not afford to do much testing
himself and he has to inflate the text volume in order to make a little bit
of money.

Which just goes to show that the UK problems somebody else described is not
a local one and that nothing beats your own testing ..... if this is
possible
