There's a test of this in the June '99 POP Photo magazine (since they're not
reviewing a particular product, the test is reasonably unbiased) that
contradicts this assertion. If it were true, then a camera manufacturer like
Nikon would not include MLU on *any* of its bodies. In fact, it would be
logical to assume that the F5 would have the *best* dampening system of all
their bodies and therefore need MLU the least.

<<You're right about the F100 -- a darn nice camera, but
without MLU many serious users will look for something different.>>

Yes, like an F5. Which is probably the main reason the F100 doesn't have
MLU, or the 1005-Pixel RGB meter. Or a metal latch-tab on the back. Yes,
friends, it's plastic, like the n50-60-70. Nikon learned the hard way with
the Nikkormat that if you make your less-expensive bodies too good, people
don't move up the line. I'm glad Leica doesn't have a host of bodies. It's
hard enough choosing which lenses to carry along ; )
