     Martin,
     
     Yes, the new cap fits the old hood.  However while that fit seems fine 
     to me, I believe I heard somewhere (I don't remember where, and cannot 
     speak from experience on this) that the new cap fits even better (more 
     securely perhaps?) on the new hood.  Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if the #14043 cap can be fitted on the #12524 hood 
(the old one before the ASPH lens came out).  The hood supposedly fits 
the old lens, but does the new cap fit the old hood?
