Before everyone goes off the reservation here, let's calm down.
Alan Ross says exactly this in his new article in Camera Arts
Jan/Feb '99. I have enjoyed his work and articles in the past, and
at least he is owed some respect for his work with Adams.
Phil Davis (BTZS) says exactly this in his articles.
I have tried split printing myself. Yes, it works exactly as
described, and it yields a print with full tonality. But it is a lot of
work.
I have gone back to single exposures. Life is too short and I like
the results. Isn't that enough?
