The safelights I used and use require the 7 1/2 watt bulb at minimum
distance of four feet.
Never had a problem. I use the old fashion Yankee safelights now- used to
have the neat two sided Kodak one, but sold it years ago. Both required
small wattage bulbs and a discrete distance!
