Subject: [Leica] Advice sought on flash for R-7

Hello Everyone,
                  I shall be taking delivery of an R-7 soon and would like
a suitable comapact flash unit to go with it. 
                  At the moment I like the features of the Metz 40 Z
series, but not the size (I'd like to use it on a G2 as well). The 32
series is about the right size, but I'd like a variable power control too.
                  I'd be most grateful for any suggestions.

P.S:- I have in my closet four dead autoflashes (Rollei, Agfa, Minox &
      Sunpak).  All four were used lightly and died without any apparent
      cause. I have checked all but found no obvious problems such as 
      leaky caps or corroded contacts. Have other list members had
      similarly bad luck with their flash units ? Of all the photographic
      apparatus I own, flash units seems to be the most unreliable.
      Comments anyone ?
