In your reference to "the M vs. R discussion," the statement that "an
R [is] out of place when it comes to ultra-pocketability" implies that
an M camera, on the other hand, embodies that quality---certainly a
gross exaggeration. A Leica M3/M2/M4/M6 is just as wide as a Leica
R4/R5/R6/R7 and not a hell of a lot shorter in height. The one really
"ultra-pocketable" Leica (other than the early screwmount models) was,
of course, the Leica CL, which in many ways remains a unique gem in
the entire Leica line.

As many wise men and women on this group have concluded in regards to
the M vs. R discussion, the key is knowing when to use each camera.
Just as an M is outclassed when it comes to long lenses, so is an R
out of place when it comes to ultra-pocketability and wide-angle
lenses.
