I might add, apropos this thread, that my dear wife is American, speaks
English, but still refers to me as a loogie, even though I vainly declare
that it's LUGger!

Like Jim, I read nearly every post on the list and haven't heard this
either. If it is going on, it is off list.
My concern is quite the opposite. I am bothered by the lack of ability
in the language shown by many whose mother tongue *is* English! :^)
