     Hi,
     
      You must be talking about the M2S which is the same as the M2R 
     without proper marking.  I would think the M2S is some sort of 
     prototype of the M2R for the US military.

Hi all,
     
I need a help. :-)
     
I was asked a question by a photographer about the leica marked as "M2", but 
functionally a M2R
the serial number is
     
 #1163476
     
He is wondering if it is a modfied version or not. I have no idea.
