I am considering the purchase of either the 50 Summicron or Summilux R lens.
While I know that the Summicron is much less expensive and outsells the
Summilux, I am not familiar with the overall optical performance of either.
I am most interested in lens sharpness from f/2.0 to about f/8.0 and am
leaning toward the Summilux since I can use the speed, but will opt for the
Summicron if it is the better overall performer.
In addition, I understand that both of these lenses are now manufactured in
Germany and that the coatings are "new and improved" (better contrast, etc.).
Any truth to this?
