A french photo magazine called "Chasseur d'Images" (hunter of images)
published a test covering the old (2 asperic surfaces) and new (1 aspheric
surface) Summilux-M 35mm f/1,4.
Although I am not sure what they are measuring exactly (contrast?, resolution?,
a combination of both?) here are the results.
Summilux-M 35 mm f/1,4
old (2 aspheric surfaces) new (1 aspheric surface)
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
center corners center corners

1.4 good average good- average
2.0 very good average/good very good- good-
2.8 very good + good+ very good+ good+
4.0 excellent very good excellent very good-
5.6 excellent+ very good+ excellent very good
8.0 excellent very good excellent- very good+

The conclusion would be that the old Summilux is very slightly superior to the
new one, the differences being only visible under optimum conditions during
picture taking and viewing plus the best film/developer.
Chasseur d'Images are of the opinion that the lens is somewhat expensive,
which earns them the price for the understatement of the year.
Hope that this is somehow useful.
