Eric,
I used to use Angineaux zoom lenses on my Arriflex (back when I was doing
some film work in addition to stills). They were at the time the highest
quality zooms available with the most useful zoom ranges ever made. I had
two, took them around the world, and never had one bit of trouble with
either.
Like my Soft Touches, the Arri outfit with a pile of lenses is also in the
basement, silently sitting there and gaining value as a collector's item. No
other 16mm camera ever came close to the quality or usefulness as the
rock-solid Arri-ST. It was and is to motion picture cameras what Leica is to
stills.
