Lutz Konnermann's "Shade" works well for suppressing flare in my M7.  
At  $6.00 it's a bargain especially if you combine it with some of his 
other items to defray the $5.00 shipping fee. Its a small piece of 
polarized plastic with self adhesive on it and  looks a tad better than 
scotch tape might.  Check out his web site (Switzerland) for this and 
his other items for the Leica.
