Simon,
After reading all the advice given about the Noctilux, I felt I should
add my counter-point.
I DO find the extra weight of the Noctilux a problem. When I owned a
Nocti, the best I could consistently shoot at was 1/15 @ f/1.
With a 50mm Summilux-M, I'm consistently successful at 1/8 @ f/1.4.
Please notice they are the same exposure.
I know all about the superior performance of the Noctilux, etc. but in
the real world, you won't be able to tell the difference.
A Summilux is a viable alternative to the Nocti.
Plus there are other "speed" enhancing devices such as a tripod,
monopod, neck pod, table tripod, and properly used flash.
Happy Snapping,
Sal DiMarco, Jr.
