Alf, this is a great point - a consideration that one sometimes forgets.  I
must confess that I am generally oriented toward the numbers.  It is good to
be reminded that the emotional view is important. In fact, I would say that
the emotional side is more important in the event that it conflicts with the
more scientific side of things.  What really counts is satisfaction with the
photographs and the process.  It is certainly true that a certain personality
of  a lens may contribute to the feel that one is looking for.
